Maple Is Shutting Down December 31: How to Export Your Family's Data and Where to Go Next

If you're reading this, your family's organizer app has an expiration date: Maple is shutting down on December 31, 2026. Following its acquisition by Wander, Maple announced it will close its doors at the end of the year — and user data will be deleted after the shutdown. Everything your family built there — the shared calendar, the lists, the routines — has a limited window to be saved.

Step 1: Export your data before December 31

Don't wait for the final week. Whatever export options Maple provides — in-app export, data download, or manual copy — use them early and keep the files:

• Calendar events — birthdays, appointments, school schedules, recurring events. These are the hardest to rebuild from memory.
• Shared lists and notes — anything the household relies on day to day.
• Photos and attachments — check whether these are included in the export at all; if not, save them manually.

Watch Maple's official announcement for their exact export process, and treat December 31 as a hard wall: after the shutdown, the data is gone.

Step 2: Know what to look for in a replacement

Two apps are shutting down their household tools this quarter, so it's a good moment to be picky. Three questions worth asking before you commit:

1. Does it let you bring your data in? If you can't import what you export, you're starting over. That's weeks of re-entry for a busy family.
2. Does it cover the calendar and the rest of the household? A shared calendar alone is the same single-purpose trap. The families that stick with an app are the ones where the calendar, the meals, the shopping list, and the bills all live together.
3. Is it built to last? Ask how the app is funded. A sustainable subscription model means the company isn't one acquisition away from the same goodbye email you just got.
